"The vast majority of cases end in settlement out of Court. A good settlement requires a deep understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of a case and using that understanding to emphasise the client’s strengths. A good result isn’t just a "win" it’s a result that is reached as quickly and cost effectively as possible."

Stephen Attree

Stephen Attree

Stephen specialises in Corporate and Commercial matters. He has a wide area of expertise advising clients on all aspects of their business including mergers, acquisitions, corporate finance, joint ventures, shareholder and partnership agreements, intellectual property, information technology, EU & UK competition law and regulatory compliance. His client base includes the IT, media, creative, entrepreneurial, professional and financial services and manufacturing sectors.  He also deals with commercial, site acquisition and construction matters for a number of property developers.

Away from the office Stephen enjoys spending time with his young family, walking, cycling and football (although more watching than playing these days).

"If something is worth doing, it is worth writing down. A commercial and corporate solicitor’s greatest challenge is to identify their client’s commercial objectives and to convert them into an agreement that provides the parties with certainty. To do this to the client’s brief, efficiently and within budget is the essence of what we do. After all, "A verbal contract isn’t worth the paper it’s written on" (Sam Goldwyn)!"

Paul Fox

Paul Fox

Paul is a dynamic and personable member of both Lawsons’ commercial and litigation departments.  Favouring an open and honest appraisal of any situation Paul finds effective solutions to meet his clients’ needs.  Paul qualified as a solicitor in 2008 after completing his training with the firm.  Unlike many other solicitors Paul worked in a number of different organisations before concentrating on a career as a solicitor in his mid twenties.

In his spare time Paul is an active member of the North West Wing Tsun Club (Kung Fu) and also enjoys restoring anything antique (especially if of the Art Deco period!).

“Working for a number of diverse organisations in my early twenties was a real education for me.  No one organisation operated in the same way.  Each had its own methods, strategy, goals and ethos.  I think that the role of a solicitor is to understand the goals of others and then apply the law as a framework to achieve those goals."
